I Have Been Adopted By A Bunch Of Turkeys!

The days are colder, the ground is frozen, and the bugs and grubs are not as readily available for the wild turkeys that live nearby. There is a flock of 16 or so that remember that I have been know to provide a small "turkey snack" when times get tough. They stream out of the near by woods, across the back yard and around to the front of our house where the bird feeders are located. This is also where I throw a small measure of cracked corn.
The "girls" as we call them, scratch at the ground, hunt and peck, and gobble the food up rather quickly. Then they move around to the back of the house, hoping to find another meal. The pickings are not as good back there so the come running around to the front again, as if for the first time, forgetting that they have just cleaned up everything that was there.
We have had freezing rain and snow over these last few days...... guess I will be making my way to the feed store!
