begining to feel like "Old MacDonald" had a farm.....

I hate to think of animals not being able to find food in the winter, so I bought a bag of "first scratch" to throw out for the wild turkeys. In the morning we have anywhere from one to seven at a time. They are very cautious, and they can fly when they need to! I have yet to get a picture of that. I do have to admit they are not the most beautiful creatures.
The deer seem to like the chicken feed as well, as I now have 3 that come to the front of the house around 4:30 in the afternoon. A doe and two young ones.

faces everywhere!

When I took this photo, I saw a stark composition of leaf, branch, and snow. When I processed the photo, all I could see was a profile, eyes and nose and white cap. We never know what is watching!!!

Sun Dogs must be in season here..

Wikipedia says that Sun Dogs occur in frigid conditions, when there are ice crystals in the air, and typically at sunset. I had been chasing a sun dog most of the afternoon, but without much success. Then as the sun was setting, something practically pulled me out of the house and said "Now", ... this is what I saw when I got to the wharf. Sun Dogs and an Elephant, what more could one ask for.

January Blahs

It is cold, the snow and the sky are the same colour and not many people lined up to take a cruse on Lake Memphremagog today
